Color

The Alphabet turtle (green) was first made and marketed in 1972 by the Puzzle People.

Thirty-eight CHUNKY pieces.

Puzzle measures 16” wide x 12” tall

Which color scheme is best?

  • The all-over green color means a HIGH challenge level, suitable for 5 to 7-year-olds.
  • If you want something easier, select our Primary rainbow colored ABC Turtle. The colored stripes give the younger puzzler clues as to which row the piece belongs.
  • This is a great puzzle for preschool and kindergarten. Lower case letters appear on the chunky pieces, corresponding upper case letters are imprinted on the tray. Counting dots are imprinted on the tray under each of the digits. The colored stripes give youngsters a clue to which row the letter belongs. Teaches the sequence of the alphabet in both upper and lower case. Tiles may be used to form simple words outside the tray.

This puzzle is a must for kids preparing for kindergarten. Popular with schools and libraries, too.
The letters flow naturally - not split up into giraffe legs etc. as on some puzzles.
Digits one through nine are printed on the brown edge of the turtle shell - underneath you'll find counting dots to correspond to each digit.

I look forward to working with my grandchildren using the puzzle and teaching them colors, numbers and letters. We can also use the letters spelling simple two, three and simple four letter words. Thanks.
